Details
  • Japanese two-panel silk painting on screen attributed to Hishikawa Moronobu (Japan, 1618-1694). Ink and color on silk depicting people on a boat ride under the golden clouds. Gold powdered clouds are surrounded by old gold brocade mounting. The back with old labels including a seal and calligraphy bearing the signature/seal of Hishikawa Moronobu, reading from the right line to the left partially translated: 菱川師宣筆 Hishikawa Moronobu hitsu (drew) / 野(?) 山乃圖 / No(?)  yama(?) no zu (scene) / 四尺 Yonhayku (four feet) 小屏風( Small screen?). Below these, there seem to be more characters but they are illegible.

    Size: 46" h x 18.75" w (each panel); 46" h x 37.5" w (overall)
Condition: Work is in excellent condition for age. Backing paper seems to have been replaced / repaired. Top support bracket is missing.
