Infinity by Masaji Yoshida (Japan, 1917-1971). Lithograph print. Printed by Arthur Flory. Numbered from an edition size of 18. Dated 1960. Signed, titled, dated and numbered in pencil by the artist. Provenance: From the Hodaka Yoshida family estate. Hodaka and Masaji were friends and every once in a while gave each other a print.
There is something about this print which says a lot without having to say very much. I'm still working on understanding exactly what it says to me. So far I've interpreted this work as a snapshot of infinity from the perspective of an individual. The moments passing in time. The moments of extreme activity. The moments of pause. The moments of joy. The moments of sorrow. Birth. Death. All on the spectrum of infinity. A very powerful print in my opinion.
