Untitled Abstract by Toshi Yoshida (Japan, 1911-1995). An intricate and compelling mixed media work by Toshi Yoshida composed in 1951, shortly after his father Hiroshi Yoshida's death. Prior to his father's passing, Toshi's primary body of work was in parallel to his father, composed of realistic and beautifully executed landscapes. In the early 1950s Toshi began to deviate from these types of works and produced a wide series of abstract prints which were more contemplative in nature. This abstract period carried well into his later years. This works is one of the earliest abstracts I'm aware of dated 1951. Signed by the artist in pencil. Originally acquired from the Yoshida Family Collection.
