  • NBTHK Japanese Wakizashi Sword by Fujiwara Takada (藤原高田) in Shirasaya mountings.

    Appealing Points: 

    • Authenticated by NBTHK.
    • Blade is fully polished and in mint condition.
    • Blade is finely forged and has wonderful forging grains.
    • Hamon temper lines are dynamic and beautiful.
    • The blade has elegant figures with deep Sori curvature.    

    Features:

    • NBTHK certificate: Status is Hozon (保存, i.e. To be preserved).  Dated December 10, 2018 with #3019173.
    • Mei signature in Nakago tang: Mumei, i.e. no signature; however, NBTHK attested in the certificate that this sword was smithed by Fujiwara Takada (藤原高田).
    • Jidai date: appears to be Shinto period (新刀, 1596-1763) based on some features of the blade.
    • Sugata structure: Shinogi-zukuri
    • Mune: Iori-mune
    • Boshi head: Ko-maru
    • Kitae hada: Itame
    • Hamon temper lines: Gunome-midare
    • Nakago tang: Kiri
    • Yasuri-me: Katte-sagari
    • Mekugi hole: Two

    Condition: 

    • The blade is fully polished and is in mint condition with some minor flaws and scratches, which are not fatal.  Shirasaya mountings are in good condition with normal wears seen in items of this age.  There are writings (113259 (registration #) 高田 (Takada)) in red in the Tsuka grip.
